Center for Tumor Ecology - Research of the cancer microenvironment supporting cancer growth and spread
Basic information: Malignant tumours represent a highly complex ecosystem consisting of malignant cells and supporting stromal cells. These stromal cells significantly influence growth in majority of tumour types. Clinical oncology until now therapeutically focuses directly on malignant cells. Therapy targeting supportive functions of stromal component in tumoral ecosystem can also significantly affect malignant cells. In the proposed CTE project, we will focus on novel drug design for purposes of this innovative oncologic strategy. Members of the CTE project team are originators of more than 70 topic relevant patents including several international.

Basic information: The project is aimed at increasing the level of research in the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics, Academy of Sciences v.v.i. It will be implemented during the years 2016 -2022 through strengthening of the applicant's research team in the field of research of "Molecular aspects of early development of vertebrates." Increasing the quality of research at European level will be ensured by the newly formed progressive team around recognized foreign experts and by the development of cooperation with three strategic foreign partners.
