Basic information: The main goal can be divided into sub-aims: Sub-aim 1 - Optimization of procedures i) isolation of selected BSP proteins from bovine seminal plasma; ii) recombinant production of BSP proteins; iii) testing the specificity of interactions of selected BSP proteins with spermatozoa. Sub-aim 2 - i) Testing the effect of media modifications on sperm quality parameters after sexing and cryopreservation ii) analysing the effect of specific protein concentration in media on IVF results of oocytes obtained post-mortem or OPU. Sub-aim 3 - Analysis of modified sperm sexation conditions on i) embryo implantation after artificial insemination; ii) embryo transfer success. Sub-aim 4 - i) Setting up a methodology for blastomere biopsy; ii) setup and optimization of genomic testing of embryos.

New methods of suppressing microbial infections in bees: Development of a new generation host-targeted synbiotic from pro-immune active bifidobacteria and lactobacilli
Basic information: The project aims to develop and validate a next-generation synbiotic for honey bees, composed of 4–8 selected strains of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli with pro-immunity and pro-metabolic effects. Strains will be chosen for their ability to ferment nectar- and pollen-derived carbohydrates and produce bioactive metabolites. The formulation will include a prebiotic component serving also as a cryo- and lyoprotectant. The synbiotic will be tested under lab and field conditions. The project covers production planning and market preparation. Results will be shared through workshops and lectures for beekeepers and students.
