RETURNING TO RESEARCH WITH GREATER CONFIDENCE: RECONNECT LAUNCHES TRAINING SUPPORT

The ReConnect project helps people on career breaks stay connected with science, continue developing their skills, and prepare for their return to the research environment. It also supports supervisors, who play an important role in this process.
This training support is intended for employees who are currently on a career break, for example due to parenthood, long-term illness, or caring responsibilities. The aim is to give them the opportunity to keep developing skills and competences important for their future scientific career and to make their return to work smoother.
The offer includes high-quality EMBO online courses focused on topics relevant to further career development in science, such as laboratory leadership, project management, negotiation, peer-reviewing research articles, designing schematic figures, and self-leadership for scientists. The courses can be taken between 2026 and 2029, or until the available financial support has been exhausted.
The project also supports supervisors or heads of laboratories, who can make a significant contribution to ensuring that the return after a career break is smooth, well planned, and takes into account the needs of both the employee and the team. Training is therefore also available for supervisors or heads of laboratories, focusing on coaching approaches, support in planning the return, and creating conditions for successful reintegration.
