Major scientific interests
- Polymer based nanoparticles particularly proteins, are becoming excellent candidates for retinal gene/bioactive molecules delivery. These nanoparticles are highly and indefatigably expressed throughout the retina are well-tolerated, safe and hold great potential for the treatment of RPE-associated diseases.
- The incorporation of bioactive molecule engineering strategies designed to improve phenotypic rescue in rod and cone photoreceptors and in RPE cells.
- The ability to target nanoparticles to different cell types and/or regions of the cell make them customizable for diverse applications especially in the retinal disease. We are focusing on the progress and future of polymeric nanoparticles; what will be required to make them appropriate retinal pharmaceutics.

Experimental knowledge
- I had an expertise in the synthesis of natural polymer conjugates, organic nanoparticles, drug encapsulation. I have used different methods for preparation viz; Maillard reaction for the synthesis of polymeric conjugates as well as desolvation for synthesis of organic nanoparticles.
- I had also studied colloidal behaviour of these nanoparticles and polymeric conjugates in different biological media by several spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. To determine the structural and molecular behaviour of synthesized nanoparticles and polymeric conjugates.
- Characterization instruments handled: X-ray diffractometer, PSS-Zeta potential and particle size analyzer, Scanning/Transmission electron microscope (SEM/TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), Fluorescence spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Electrochemical work station, FT-Raman spectrometer, Atomic force microscopy, Circular dichroism, Electrophoresis, etc.
- Other techniques known: High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), MALDI-TOF.
- I had also expertise in animal cell culture technique and handled various cell lines.
