The Department is dealing with selected aspects of food production, evaluation of their components, affecting their quality, description of microbial degradation in the digestive tract and actual digestion and utilization of nutrients. Three laboratories are forming the Department. They are basically focused on endocrinology, nutrition and microbiology of the digestive tract. These topics are complementary for the monitoring and determination of quality and safety of foods and feeds.
